Leicester v Newcastle

This is a critical match for Leicester in the context of staying in the Premier League. Newcastle have little to play for as they are becalmed in mid-table safety, free of relegation worries and with no chance of qualifying to play in European competition next season. The home side are on an excellent run of form which has taken them away from the drop zone while the visitors are going through the motions as their season drifts to an end. Leicester have all the incentive and motivation to record another win.

Pick: Leicester at 10/11 or -110.

West Ham v Burnley

This is another fixture that brings together a side only playing for their final position in the league table and opponents who are desperate for points. West Ham are 11th of 20 teams in the Premier League so can push on for a top half finish. Burnley are bottom of the league and look destined for an immediate return to the Premiership after winning just 5 of 34 league matches to date. West Ham have won only 8 of their 17 matches at home and Burnley’s hunger can see them avoid defeat in this match.

Pick: Draw at 12/5 or +240.

Aston Villa v Everton

Aston Villa have been rejuvenated since Tim Sherwood became the manager. However, despite reaching the FA Cup Final they could still be relegated. Villa are two points ahead of Sunderland in 18th position but have played a game more and have a slightly inferior goal difference. They need at least one more win to be safe in the division. Everton are one of the form teams of the Premier League but with no relegation worries may not be fully focused for a match Villa can win.

Pick: Aston Villa at 13/8 or +162.50.

Swansea v Stoke

This fixture is the epitome of an end of season non-event as it involves two sides out of contention to qualify for Europe and already assured of Premier League football next season. Sometimes the most logical outcome is what occurs and in this case it is a draw which suits both teams. Swansea have won 8 of 17 home league matches this season, scoring 23 goals and conceding 18. Stoke have been solid on the road avoiding defeat in 10 of 17 matches and they can increase that tally against Swansea.

Pick: Draw at 21/10 or +210.

Liverpool v QPR

Pick: Liverpool at 1/3 or -300.

Liverpool’s season is drifting to an end with little chance of qualifying for the Champions League after losing three from five matches. The manager is confident they can challenge for the league next season but the end of season objective is to keep their fans onside. QPR have the worst away record in the league having lost 13 of 16 matches on the road, conceding 36 goals and scoring 17. Liverpool have a fine home record which can be enhanced by picking up three points in this match.

Sunderland v Southampton

This is a meeting that involves side in need of points to move away from the relegation zone and opponents who are striving for fifth place and qualification for the Europa League. Sunderland can move up two places with a win while Southampton are just one point off the pace in the race for fifth place. Sunderland have the second worst home record in the league while Southampton have conceded fewest goals alongside Chelsea. Sunderland can put sides around then under pressure with a win.

Pick: Sunderland at 16/5 or +320.

Manchester United v West Brom

Manchester United are currently in fourth place and just about in the Champions League next season However, ideally they would like to be a place higher at the end of the season to avoid playing a qualifying tie before the start of the regular season. They were poor at Everton last weekend and will be trying to get their season on track with a convincing home win. West Brom have enough points to stay in the division but avoiding defeat may be beyond them in this match that can end with a United win.

Pick: Manchester United at 4/11 or -275.

Chelsea v Crystal Palace

If other results go their way Chelsea could clinch their first title in the second Jose Mourinho era with a home win. They have been criticised for playing boring football but they are the best team in England and worthy champions. They are unlikely to slip up at this point and lose for the first time at home in the league this season. Palace could still finish in the top 10 but will not have the desire to prevent Chelsea winning the match and getting ever closer to the title or being champions.

Pick: Chelsea at 1/3 or -300.

Tottenham v Manchester City

Tottenham have ultimately disappointed and again failed to break into the top four and qualify for the Champions League. Playing in the less lucrative Europa League is not much of a consolation but they are right in the mix to qualify by finishing fifth. Manchester City have found some decent form but have dropped too far behind Chelsea to win the league for the third time in four years. There is something on this match and despite incentives for both sides it can end in a draw.

Pick: Draw at 13/5 or +260.

Hull v Arsenal

Hull are not quite sure of playing in the Premier League next season but beating Liverpool at home this week was crucial. They have a tough run-in and could still be dragged in to the relegation zone but should have enough to win at least one more match. They may not get those crucial three points against an Arsenal side trying to qualify directly in to the Champions League by finishing second or third. Hull have won just 5 of 16 matches at home this season and a draw can keep that total down.

Pick: Draw at 14/5 or +280.
